Dakar Rally 2017. Day 9. Uyuni, Bolivia - Salta, Argentina. Sportbooking.com Stage
10th of January saw the continuation of the supermarathon that yet again proved extremely challenging for the team.
Speaking plain numbers here: it took the pilots 14 hours of driving without any external help to arrive to the final checkpoint. Sandy dunes, that are abundant in the area, didn't make it any easier for the team, especially given the fact that 60% of the daily route made up a super special stage.
Mechanical problems started to kick in mid-way, forcing Roman to reduce their cruising speed and even stop for occasional checks.
However, it did not eradicate the Olympic spirit of our heroes, as they provided help to two fellow racers, who got stuck on the way due to the sandy surface of the tracks.
By the very late evening, tired and worn out, but above all safe and still in the race, the team arrived to the camp.
Yesterday's stage was cancelled by the organisers due to severe weather.
The racing resumes today with the stage from Chilecito to San Juan, Argentina.
Stay tuned and get behind the team!
